It was certainly the “Hour of ABR” at Tamworth in New South Wales on Thursday, May 26.
ABR, and our good partners Summit Bloodstock, came away with a treble in consecutive races.
All three winners were trained by Darren Elder, his son Brad drove two, and Blake Hughes, the other.
Recent stable addition Lifes A Jungle kicked off the winning streak in The Pub – Gunnedah Road Pace
(1609m).
Coming from gate seven, on the inside of the second row, Lifes A Jungle settled three back on the
inside in the sprint.
Driver Brad Elder bided his time before being able to extricate the seven-year-old coming off the
back.
Once in the clear, Lifes A Jungle ($2.30 fav) sprinted strongly to win running away by 3.3 metres from
Im Freyja ($3) with Killara Insanity ($13), 13.1 metres away third.
The gelding rated a respectable 1:58.4.
Mykindoffeeling, going for his second win in a week following an easy victory at Newcastle on
Monday, was the red hot $1.28 favourite in the Follow Us On Facebook Pace (1980m).
Driver Brad Elder allowed him to come out nicely from gate three before working to the lead after
200 metres.
Mykindoffeeling had some midrace pressure before drawing clear turning for home.
Night Lights ($34) finished fast, but too late, failing to catch the favourite by a half head. A Paradigm
Shift ($5.50) was two metres away third.
ABR had two runners in the Office National Pace (1609m).
Booker Bay ($2.90), driven by Brad Elder came from gate five while Lord Bazalup ($2.60 fav), with
Blake Hughes in the sulky, started from gate seven, barrier one on the second row.
Elder had Booker Bay away quickly to find the lead while Lord Bazalup settled three back on the
inside.
Rated perfectly, Booker Bay looked in control of the race turning for home, but Hughes was able to
bring Lord Bazalup off the inside and into clear room.
Booker Bay looked the winner, but Lord Bazalup sprinted quickly and finished best to score a short
half head win from Sultan Fella ($7) which also sprinted strongly with Booker Bay a half head away
third.
The three wins netted $11,016 – not bad in an hour.
