Promising four-year-old Tan Tat Beau made it two wins in a row with an impressive victory at Gawler on Wednesday, November 30.

Trained by Aaron Bain, and ridden by apprentice Ellis Wong, Tan Tat Beau covered ground before drawing clear to win the Contract Engineering Class One Handicap (1200m).

Stable foreman Ned Taylor said he had told Wong pre-race not to panic if he was caught wide.

“From his outside draw there was always a good chance he would have to cover ground,” Taylor said.

“The original plan was to follow across another runner, but when our bloke came out so slowly, he was always going to be wide.

“Credit to Ellis, he allowed Tan Tat Beau to find his rhythm and allowed him to slowly work forward.

“Once in the straight, the horse responded as we hoped, and he ran strongly through the line.”

Tan Tat Beau ($2.40 fav) won by 1-1/2 lengths from Foxy Femme ($3.70) with Livin’ Loose ($21) a head away third.

Trainer Aaron Bain said he always believed Tan Tat Beau would prove up to city class.

The four-year-old will get his chance to show that at his next run, and it will be at his home track.

The Gawler & Barossa Jockey Club are going to conduct its IronGate Australia Gateway To Christmas race meeting on Saturday, December 17.

“There is a nice race for him at the meeting and provided he takes no harm from this win, he can go around.

“Aaron Bain Racing has booked a marquee for the day as we hope to have a few runners, so he will have a strong support crew.

“It was fantastic to see so many of the ownership group at Gawler today to enjoy the victory.”
