The opportunity presented with the lovely Wild Ruler filly out of Spanish Miracle from the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale Melbourne, 2025.

We chose to back this electric son of Snitzel as a stallion, with his progeny hitting the yearling sales for the first time this season. To win a Moir Stakes, you need to be built for speed and Wild Ruler had that in droves, leaving in his wake other exciting first season sires in Profiteer and Portland Sky.  Wild Ruler was also a winner of the stallion making Roman Consul, with an honor roll including the likes of Zoustar, Fastnet Rock and Exceed & Excel. Peter Snowden proclaimed "I think he could be one of the better sprinters we've ever had" (The Australian Oct 13 2021).  First yearlings have sold up to $380,000 and are turning up in Group 1 winning stables in multiple states.

This is the first foal out of Spanish Miracle. Her dam El Milagro, by Encosta de Lago, has an impressive 5 winners produced, including 3 black type winners, most notably Another Award, nine-time winner of the Group 2 SAJC Breeders Stakes in Tequila Time and the listed Tasmanian Guineas winner Inner Warrior.  Another Award was a highly regarded SA mare, a winner of the SAJC Matrice Stakes. This filly is bred on the identical cross, out of the same family, by of a son of Snitzel in Wild Ruler.  Another Award went on to win over $600,000 in prizemoney before being sold to Yulong for $1.2 million.  

We have tasted success with carefully selecting first foals on pedigree, highlighted with the back-to-back wins of yearling graduate Dubai Focus.  Willowgrove Stud continues to impress with the quality of yearlings that walk through the sales ring and give us every confidence when they retain significant ownership in these fillies.
