St Mark's Basilica x Kalidaz '23 Colt is an exciting acquisition for the stable adding a lot of depth to our yearling offerings.  Bred at the proven stud Newhaven Park, who have an honour list of multiple Group winners, the most prolific being the Magic Millions 2yo Classic winner in Unencumbered.  Have a look at the way this guy walks out at the Yearling parade, a beautifully balanced colt we are excited to have at Angaston.

St Mark's Basilica is a French bred, Irish trained galloper who was crowned Europe's best two old in 2020.  His honor role includes five Group 1 wins, including the Dewhurst Stakes at two, and defeating the older horses in the G1 Eclipse Stakes at three.  His 3 year old victories also included the French Guineas and French Derby before taking out the Irish Champion Stakes.  His first crop of international yearlings sold up to 1.7 million pounds, including the highest priced foal sold in Europe and North America in 2023, a feat rarely heard of for a first season sire.

Kalidaz is a 3 time winning mare who has produced a winner and her youngest foals are in training. Of note her dam Kali Smytzer, who adds the line of Zabeel to the pedigree, has impeccable stats of seven to race all winners, including black type winners and an international horse of the year.
